Watch Colombia and the Hostages' Rescue on Link TV

LinkTV's bilingual program "Latin Pulse" produced a 24-minute program on the Colombian hostage rescue, which aired on July 29. I was part of a panel with three others on the program, which starts about half-way in.

You can also watch it and read and a transcript at LinkTV's web site.

One Day = $720 Million

Here's a new video from the American Friends Service Committee about the cost of war. Please pass it on.

Talking about nonviolence and FOR

I was just looking for videos about FOR on YouTube, and found this excellent clip of two FOR members talking about how they came to believe that war is wrong and how others can get involved with peacework:

Closing the School of the Americas

This weekend is the annual protest and vigil in Fort Benning, Georgia against the School of Americas (recently renamed to "Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation"). Many of our colleagues from FOR will be there, and I hope to get them to post some updates here on the blog during the event.

Meanwhile, ¡Presente! magazine has a fascinating collection of videos like the one above, and lots of informative articles, including this one about the impact of the SOA in Colombia:

Loving soldiers and hating war

Today I ran into Erin Byrd, a grassroots organizer for economic and social justice in North Carolina. She showed me this video she made about "being a military brat who hates war." It's called "I am a duality." I think it's great and I know she would really like some feedback from others.

Mark Johnson interview

Last month FOR's executive director was at the national conference of United for Peace and Justice and sat down for a quick interview. You can watch the 10 minute video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iAiTg7La-M
