Finding Our Voices - new DVD

Eight stories of civil dissent and resistance are woven together in 80 minutes of action to remind us that passionate individuals can take stands to persuade others to follow. Here, to follow means to join the growing chorus of voices calling US troops out of Iraq, by marching, talking, writing, in vigils and lobbying.

Some have been at it for decades, but most have found their voices in response to the invasion of Afghanistan and the occupation of Iraq. Most of the names and groups are familiar in progressive and peace circles, Adele Welty and September Eleventh Families for a Peaceful Tomorrow, Gael Murphy and Code Pink, U.S. Representative Jim Moran, Brady Kiesling who resigned from the State Department in 2003, soldiers refusing to return to Iraq like John Bruhns and Camilo Mejia, Rev.Graylan Hagler. But their stories are well captured and woven together over a number of years. Produced by Dream Catcher Films, Inc. of Huntington Vermont, President Holly Stadtler would like to get the DVD circulating in time to raise the anti for the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.

It would work well for an FOR Chapter meeting, a neighborhood house party, a campus or church gathering. Use it to encourage friends to join you in Washington, D.C. on March 7th for the Interfaith Peace Witness. To request a copy go to a very good web site: www.findingourvoices.com .

Film Launch

Mark:
Thanks so much for letting folks know about FINDING OUR VOICES. As March approaches, we are sadly reminded that peace in the Middle East is still a dream. It is our hope that people who see the movie are inspired by these unsung heroes and will realize we all can work for peace -- and must!

I want to let your chapter leaders know that for the house party launch, we will send print copies of resource materials to hosts. We can include a page about FOR and any key alerts you want to draw attention to in these materials. We want hosts to have a packet of resources that may aid discussion but also give organizations a chance to promote their work and point out any immediate missions/goals. We see it as an opportunity to spread information about various groups to people who may find the film because of progressive ideals, because they're free speech supporters or part of the peace activist community. Individuals can contact me at dreamcat@gmavt.net about that. Thanks for all you do, and have a blessed day.
Regards,
Holly Stadtler

Encounter Point Video

Here is another video well worth watching, Mark. Nonviolence in action in Israel and Palestine. The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Ethics in Los Angeles is showing it around the city this year as its part of a global campaign to awaken support for peace in the Middle East centered around the video. See http://raoulwallenberginstitute.org/encounter/index.html.
