About NYC
Who is FOR? Who is the Nonviolent Youth Collective?
The Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) seeks to replace violence, war, racism, and economic injustice with nonviolence, peace, and justice. We are a 90 year old, international, multi-faith organization committed to active nonviolence as a transforming way of life and as a means of radical change. We educate, train, build coalitions, and engage in nonviolent and compassionate actions locally, nationally, and globally.
FOR’s Nonviolent Youth Collective is a group of young adult facilitators, organizers, and artists who are working for nonviolent, anti-oppressive, social transformation. We can be found throughout the nation organizing and facilitating popular education workshops and performances at conferences, events, as well as hosting our own spaces for healing transformation including our week-long anti-oppression & nonviolence trainings-- Peacemaker Training Institutes (PTIs). We believe that anti-oppression work must be the foundation for all of our struggles toward a more just tomorrow. We believe in the capacity and responsibility of young people to take leadership in birthing this new reality. We welcome you to join us in this creative struggle!
Recognizing the unique role that young adults play in questioning and creatively changing the world, we seek to empower national and local youth networks, organizations, and individual members to take collaborative, nonviolent action, infused with an anti-oppression analysis, to rebalance power in our world. FOR’s Nonviolent Youth Collective is a member of the National Youth and Student Peace Coalition.
